Two of her paintings, "Butterfly Kiss" and "Pea Pod Woman on Fish Chicken Flees Butterfly", were chosen by America Publishing to print as greeting cards and are being distributed nationally. She has recently completed a one woman show at "In The Mood Coffeehouse" and by invitation, two of her paintings were included in the High Plains Art Show at the Museum in Fort Morgan, CO. Her art can be viewed on two web sites: AmericaPublishing.com and Sharonart.com (so named because of her desire to find a way of sharing her art). In her words, "There were a few years there when I had a real block to picking up a brush and putting it to canvas. Then I took a workshop in Aspen from Michelle Casseau who wrote a book called "Life, Paint, and Passion." It took the fear out of painting for me and now I'm having fun with my art again. Color is what attracts me most. When I start a painting I go for the color and then see where it wants to go. I could never plan these paintings ahead of time as they come from the subconscious level and right brain much like a dream. This is probably why they look so symbolic, though I try to resist the temptation to figure out what it all means. It really is therapeutic for me to paint in that I am able to express what I cannot say. Even though I may not understand the paintings on the intellectual level, the process is extremely satisfying and healing. Giving myself permission to paint in this way becomes a joyful experience. Each one is a surprise. They are sometimes humorous, sometimes full of symbolism and they are always full of life. I love the opportunity to share my work and in some unspoken language, perhaps my pieces can be healing to others as well.
